On the backof the frame, there's an old exhibition sticker, which contains the artist'ssignature and the title of the painting “Kalkovnen i Herfølge”(litt. “The limepit oven in Herfølge”). The lime pit and oven was situated right next to thechurch, and in 1915, after the minister and his wife had complained about thedust on the confirmands' tables and the noise from the quarry, it was closed.Today, the area is a part of the cemetery, which belongs to the church.
