-This vintage Walton-Pierce Trench Coat a timeless piece that can be seamlessly integrated into today's fashion
Founded in 1925 by Mrs. Walton and Mrs. William Rust Pierce, Walton-Pierce has a rich history which can be explored through historical ads available online, as well as Detroit's historical website.
Walton-Pierce began with the introduction of made-to-order fashions for the women of Detroit. Initially located at the Women's City Club at 2110 Park Avenue in Downtown Detroit, the shop relocated to Grosse Pointe in September 1947. By 1952, it became the exclusive provider of made-to-order and ready-to-wear fashions. A new chapter began in October 1969 with the opening of a shop in Birmingham's Somerset Mall. Walton-Pierce became synonymous with fashion for generations of elegantly dressed Detroit women. Notable clients included Mrs. Edsel Ford and her daughter Josephine [Jo] Ford, whose wedding gown was a Walton-Pierce creation. Matilda Dodge Wilson, a philanthropist, former MSU Trustee, Lieutenant governor of Michigan, wife of John Dodge the automotive pioneer, co-founder of University of Oakland, and one of the wealthiest women of her time, regularly commissioned new pieces from Walton-Pierce each season for over three decades. These garments were made from special fabrics, some of which are no longer available. This Coat is crafted from some of the finest materials, with exceptional stitching detail.
This his label was used from 1964 to 1973. Walton-Pierce, which merged with Hickey's in 1997, closed its doors in 2009. The suit is a piece of history, created when seamstresses meticulously fashioned their work. It has withstood the test of time and remains a high-quality garment. This purchase is one you're sure to cherish. It's simply stunning!
