It is the first translated English edition from the original Hebrew, so it is pre-censorship of objectionable or controversial material according to the Orthodox community. It was printed in 1982 before CIS Publishing purchased the rights. It is in excellent condition with nice dust covers.This set is in very nice condition. Covers are beautiful and so is binding. There is no writing whatsoever in the interior of any of the books. Pages are clean and white. Comes with the original slip-case which is quite uncommon too. Pagination: Volume 1 276, volume 2 252, volume 3 234, volume 4 238, volume 5 388.

This set is a large collection of choice tales drawn from the lives of the Jews of the holy city of Jerusalem and their leaders, mostly living in the beginning of the last century but a significant amount of stories even beyond that and depiction of the origins of The Old Yishuv. Being very mystical, it surrounds some very magical and fantastic personalities, the hidden Zaddik, and even many people versed in the Kabbalah, called Kabbalists or Mystics.It contains, I believe, some very rare and uncommon photos of scenes and personalities who lived in those times.Written by Menachem Gerlitz and translated to English by Sheindel Weinbach.
