DESCRIPTION

The first edition of this uncommon work rebound in a later cloth binding.

Pierre-Auguste Adet (1763-1834) was a French ambassador to the United States, who had publicly attacked the 1794 Jays Treaty with England, probably because it would make England, rather than France, the Americas principal ally. He found many supporters amongst President Washingtons administration. In this volume, William Cobbett furiously defends President Washingtons foreign policy.

Many copies of this work are disbound; it is rare to find this work in such smart condition.

CONDITION

Rebound in a cloth binding. Externally in lovely condition. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are clean but age toned with the odd spot, as is usual of paper this age.
