THE GRAND RAID CHASSIS
As Bugattiwas notproducingracing cars in series anymore as in the golden 20ies, faithful Bugatti customers
nevertheless demanded a sportier version of Type 57 which could be used for competition. This led to two further
versions of the Type 57 which were produced for a very short period only. At the Paris Motor Show in 1934 a breathtaking roadster the "Grand Raid" was launchedon the Bugatti stand. This two-seater roadster had air-stream like camelback headrests.
34 chassis with "Atalante" works coachwork were built. In addition to these cars only about 8 chassis with the so called "Grand Raid" chassis specifications where produced and sold to customers mainly in England. The very rare version of this Type 57 was called Type 57 T ot TT by the importer. Some of the chassis got very sporty coachwork by Corsica.
On 13th of September 1935 Chassis 57326 with engine number 225 was delivered as rolling chassis to the UK. Importer was Bugatti London, Coloned Sorel, Brixton Road. The chassis was then taken to Corsica Coachworks in Cricklewood Broadway
S.W.2, London to be bodied with an open 2-seater sports body, painted black with leather interior in "Bankers Green". The hood was in Camel color.
On the 22nd of November 1935 the finished Corsica Roadster was then delivered to its first Owner, Percy Fawcett living in: The Homestead, Hope, Hopen Valley in the county of Derbyshire. The Bugatti was registered with the number: BRB 800.
