A twelve volume set of the letters of Madame de Sevigne, a French aristocrat whose prolific letter writing has provided a valuable insight into seventeenth century France. Madame de Sevignes letters are heralded for their wit, vividness and her musings on key events in France during her lifetime.
Addressed to her daughter, the letters often commented on scandalous events in the French court.
